Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is widely admired as a devoted educator, scholar, and advocate for human development. From an early age, HRH was inspired by accompanying His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit on rural development missions across Thailand, witnessing firsthand the struggles of children and families in remote communities. These early experiences shaped HRH’s lifelong commitment to improving education and quality of life for the underprivileged. Since 1980, Her Royal Highness has worked tirelessly to expand educational opportunities, recognising that true development goes beyond schools and classrooms. HRH’s initiatives have integrated health care, vocational training, and agriculture for food security, reflecting HRH’s belief that education is the foundation of sustainable livelihoods and social progress. Over the decades, HRH’s projects have reached countless communities in Thailand and have extended to many other countries, amplifying her impact globally.

Her Royal Highness is herself a passionate teacher. For more than four decades, HRH has taught history and sociology at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Thailand. HRH has continually emphasised the vital role of teachers as the cornerstone of student success, launching numerous programmes to enhance teacher preparation, professional growth, and educational quality improvement. HRH’s vision and leadership have been honoured worldwide. In 2005, UNESCO named HRH Goodwill Ambassador for the “Empowerment of Minority Children through Education and the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage.” In 2018, UNICEF awarded HRH the Lifetime Achievement Award for HRH’s remarkable contributions to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Thailand. Through HRH’s unwavering dedication, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has become a role model for teachers and learners alike. HRH’s passion for lifelong learning, commitment to equity in education, and ability to bridge tradition with innovation continue to inspire generations both in Thailand and around the world.
