Mr. Norhailmi is an innovative teacher for science subject at SMK Jerlun, Kedah. He has extensive experience in classroom practices and creative teaching for STEM and 21st Century Learning. He champions on hands-on learning approach, because he believes that his students will be minds-on too. He encourages his students to do experiments, explorations, and sometimes field research. He also serves as one of the master trainers for Inquiry-Based Science Education for Malaysia.
Mr. Norhailmi started his career as a secondary school teacher in Sarawak, before serving for his current school in Kedah. Building his expertise through hands-on experiences and participating in various online and offline workshops, he expands his knowledge-sharing practices with teachers in the country. Participating in local and international teacher workshops had helped him to sharpen his skills in STEM pedagogy and makes him one of the renowned STEM teachers in Malaysia. These workshops include Korea-Malaysia Teacher Exchange Programme 2015, Honeywell Educators at Space Academy (USA) 2018 and International High School Teacher Programme (Geneva) 2019. With the ability to integrate digital technology within his classroom, he has contributed to sharing sessions with teachers across the nation, as well as Southeast Asian educators.
