Ha Anh Phuong is a young ethnic minority teacher and a Vietnamese politician living in mountainous area in Vietnam. She comes up with breakthrough teaching initiatives, such as the borderless classroom model, English language teaching approach (MAI, SIC, CLT). She also initiates some international projects that bring ethnic students to connect with the world to become global citizens, promote gender equality and develop students’ 21st century skills. Her classrooms have been connected with hundreds of classes from nearly 50 countries in the world.
In 2020, she was shortlisted for the Global Teacher Prize top 10 finalists by Varkey Foundation – a partner of UNESCO, UK-based foundation for her tireless work for children in Huong Can High School. She was also selected for the precious Vietnamese Award for 10 Outstanding Vietnamese Young Faces 2020 by the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and several national prizes for her inspiration.
Accredited as a Microsoft Innovator Expert (MIE Expert), she has contributed to the local, national and international education communities through professional development activities, using ICT tools. The learning outcomes of her students over the past years reflect her endeavor in helping ethnic minority students to master the English language as a foreign language in a new and effective approach.
She is honored to receive many teaching prizes from local to international arena though she is a young ethnic minority living in poor and mountainous region in Vietnam. Noticeably, she was certified as a teacher with outstanding contribution in supporting the Vietnamese teacher community during the COVID-19 pandemic by Microsoft Vietnam. She has also been invited to be a speaker of many international and national conferences and workshops. In 2021, she has been elected as a member of Vietnam National Assembly 2021- 2026. This is a good opportunity for her to raise the voices of teachers and students in Vietnam for a better future.
