Mr. Saifulnizan Che Ismail
“Let’s code for our future”
School Address: SK Raja Bahar,16150 Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia

Mr. Saifulnizan was born in Takang, Kelantan, Kotabaru. He went to school in Kelantan and had a bachelor’s degree in computer science-IT from University Technology Ma- laysia in Johor. He then continued his master’s degree in mathematics from the same university. After he graduated, he worked as a salesman for a company. One day, he realized that his work had become lifeless and a boring routine, so he applied to study for a diploma in education to get certified to be a teacher.
He started his teaching career in 2010 at a school in his hometown, Takang. He has made changes to the school by converting a classroom into an IT classroom. He bought laptop computers for his students to use in the classroom. He makes sure that his students are well-equipped with IT. He also uses his own money to set up a “digital maker hub” for his students, turning a regular classroom into a STEM and robotic learning arena.
When asked why, he invested and committed himself to doing what he does. He re- plied with determination that if I do not do that, my people will not be able to com- pete with other students in other schools. Mr. Saifulnizan likes to teach and enjoys teaching very much because the feedback he receives from the students gives him the spirit and energy to do more. He said that his philosophy in teaching is to not only give knowledge but also guide his students so that they will have skills for the future. He always thinks of new ideas and new teaching methods to make his students learn mathematics in a simple and fun way. His teaching technique is FIDS which stands for F = field (observing the process), I = imagine, D = discuss, and S = share. He said that he likes to share and inspire the students as well as the teachers.
He started his innovation using mathematics to find solutions in 2017. He coached his students to compete in sustainable projects at the iCan Global Children Summit, and his students won the award for the herb garden project, Safety Earth.
When asked about his contribution, he said he wants to develop innovation every year. He creates positive change in his students lives. Mr. Saifulnizan said joyfully that he feels very satisfied and fulfilled when he sees his students happy.
