Mr. Nguyen is currently a vice principal at Hoang Van Thu Gifted High School in Hoa Binh Province, a school for talented children from various ethnic minority groups in Vietnam. Being a teacher was Mr. Nguyen’s childhood dream. After graduating from Hoa Binh University, he fulfilled his dream and started teaching at Hoa Binh Provincial Ethnic Minority Boarding School until August 2022.

Besides being a school administrator, Mr. Nguyen teaches geography. He received a Master of Natural Geography. With his passion for geography, he inspires and ignites the love for learning geography in his students. He led his students to join various competitions, both at the provincial and national levels. Throughout his 27 years of teaching geography, his students won 18 provincial prizes, three of which won national prizes in 2022.

He is not only passionate about geography but also compassionate toward his students. As the students in his school are from ethnic minorities, they often misbehave. Mr. Nguyen cares about them and shows them love, understanding, and support. To help them, he patiently investigated the reasons behind their misbehavior. He understands that misbehaving students have reasons rooted in themselves, their families, their friends, or others. Their misbehavior is often due to a lack of problem-solving skills and an inability to deal with conflicts. When shown love, understanding, and support, they will gradually transform into well-behaved students. He developed an online system to manage students’ leave applications at Hoa Binh Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School. In 2022, this online system won the Consolation Prize at “The 8th Technical Innovation in Hoa Binh Province Contest” and has become a provincial model that schools use throughout the province. His ingenuity has changed students’ awareness, attitudes, and behaviors. As a result, Mr. Nguyen was able to prevent problems that may arise in the boarding environment.

As a school administrator, Mr. Nguyen serves as a youth union official. He initiated a life skills education model for high school students in boarding school called “30 golden minutes”. This initiative was awarded by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as one of the models that is now used nationwide.

He is also very active in community work. He organizes many cultural exchanges and volunteer groups in the mountainous areas to raise funds for the disabled, the disadvantaged, and patients with fatal diseases. In addition, he was assigned by the Department of Education and Training, Vietnam, to be an inspector collaborator, a member of the Geography Department Council, a judge in many competitions for gifted students and teachers, and a lecturer in a coursebook replacement training course.
