Mrs. Uyanga Adiyasuren

“Demonstrate the ability to live independently, work, and instill confidence in the learner, their family, and caregivers that the students can work.”

School Address: “Enerel” School of Professional Education, 11a Building, 13th Khoroo, Hasbaatar Street, Bayangol District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Mrs. Uyanga Adiyasuren works with students with intellectual disabilities. In 2016, she started working as an accountant at Eneral School for Disability. “Eneral” School accepts all students with intellectual challenges who wish to study, regardless of entrance examinations or assessments. The school aims to provide them with vocational skills and employment opportunities, ensuring that each academic year’s enrolment is full. Many graduates of the school maintain close connections with the school and their teachers until they secure stable jobs, even if they are no longer officially enrolled.

While she was working there, there were so many times that she felt sad when she saw students with disabilities. As time went by, and as she learnt more about their specific challenges of those students, she realised that

the school should not just teach lessons but prepare the students to become independent and able to function in society, with social interaction and communication skills suitable for their needs.

She wants to raise awareness in society that students with developmental differences can live independently and be employed. Many individuals with intellectual disabilities appear physically healthy, making their challenges less noticeable. Therefore, it is important to inform the public and demonstrate that individuals with cognitive impairments can be trained and employed in the workforce. She decided to reach out and do more to make society recognise that these students are human beings just like us. Thus, she went to study to become a teacher and started teaching in Eneral in 2016 and has now become a training manager.

In the 2023-2025 academic year, the school has 70 students, 70% of whom have not received basic education and live at home under the care of their families due to intellectual and developmental disabilities. Even after two years of training, many graduates struggle to find suitable jobs due to their conditions. Therefore, she has made it her mission to help them find employment and support their transition to independent living.

Mrs. Uyanga Adiyasuren aims to instil confidence in graduates’ families that their children can work, earn an income, and have life goals. Moreover, she would like to raise awareness in society that students with developmental differences can live independently and be employed.
