Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar 26 – 29 June 2023

During 26 – 29 June 2023, the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation Committees, led by Dr. Krissanapong Kirtikara, the Chairman of the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation, along with the committee members, visited the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with the award-winning teachers of the Princess Maha Chakri Award.  

On 27 June, the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation Committees have traveled
to Naypyitaw to meet with the Permanent Secretary General and other High Officials of the Ministry of Education Myanmar and on 28 June, the foundation committee met with
H.E. Mr. Mongkol Visitstump, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Myanmar, to express gratitude for their collaboration with the foundation and provide information about the upcoming 5th Princess Maha Chakri Award ceremony, which will be held on 17 October 2023, along with other related activities. 

Dr. Krissanapong Kirtikara stated that the Princess Maha Chakri Award is a prestigious award that recognizes the value of teachers and promotes their important role in the development of education in each country. Receiving the award is another step towards expanding knowledge and experiences for the award-winning teachers of each country
and serves as a mechanism to foster continuous relationships through collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Myanmar and the Ministry of Education Myanmar, as well as various sectors to support teachers’ work in various activities as “Friends of Thailand”.

The committee also visited Daw Aye Su Win, the recipient of the 2023 Princess Maha Chakri Award, at No.2 Basic Education High School in Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon,
to learn more about her outstanding work, future plans, and to prepare for the award ceremony in Thailand.

Daw Aye Su Win, Princess Maha Chakri Awardee in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in 2023. She is currently 38 years old and was born in the Irrawaddy Region in 1986. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Pathein University and a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in English from Yangon University of Education. Currently, she is a senior teacher, ranked second, at Basic Education High School, Hlaing Tharyar
(BEHS 2 Hlaing Tharya). She is responsible for teaching English and also serves as a librarian. She is deeply passionate about language education and actively participates in various school projects, particularly within the school library, to promote and enhance language learning skills and research abilities among students. She also prioritizes creating an engaging learning environment, promoting student health and well-being, and managing agriculture activities in the school, where students grow seasonal vegetables and fruits to ensure they have access to nutritious and wholesome food. In 2018, she sent students to participate in the ASEAN Cyber Kids Camp, where they achieved the 3rd prize for their use of the Scratch program. She has consistently developed teaching methods and organized activities to foster the continuous development of her students.

Furthermore, the foundation committee visited and met with previous award-winning teachers in Myanmar to follow up on ongoing teaching projects and explore further collaboration. They also met with Thai businessmen, entrepreneurs, and the media to foster cooperation in supporting the Princess Maha Chakri Award for Myanmar.

The Princess Maha Chakri Award is an international award that honors the contributions of outstanding teachers and recognizes their dedication to transforming the lives of their students and their significant contributions to education in the ASEAN and Timor-Leste countries. It is awarded every two years, with one recipient from each of the 11 participating countries. The award ceremony, along with an international academic conference for knowledge and experience exchange among exceptional teachers in ASEAN and Timor-Leste, will take place on 17 October  2023.
